The current issue of Brides Magazine features two samples of Paperfinger calligraphy! They’re back-to-back in the Buzz section, beginning page 75.
Above, the Jane Austen lettering to complement the stack of books — yet another creative way to do table names. Below, my chalk calligraphy on photo booth signs. You’ll see I saved a silly shot of me with one of the signs while I was working on them…

Brooklyn Bride featured this shoot on Monday, orchestrated and created by Poppies & Posies — the floral and event design duo that I’ve worked with before (remember the oyster bar menu?) — along with calligraphy by yours truly, Stuart & Welch catering, Sarah Seven bridal gowns, all captured by photographer Jen Huang. The models were Jasmine Johnson of BridalBod and Davraam.
The theme: chemistry!
I created a periodic table of elements-esque table sign along with whimsically written place cards for the shoot. The floral display here is gorgeous — Sierra and Jen of Poppies & Posies made it work so elegantly with the old science test tubes and vintage medicinal glass bottles. Read about their process and selections in greater detail on the Brooklyn Bride post.
Some of my favorite shots by Jen are included here. Enjoy!

Paperfinger calligraphy has a full page feature in the summer issue of The Knot!
I loved working on this project and the way they displayed it on the page. Each escort card is pinned up and cut out as individual numerals as table assignments. I used white ink to make the names pop on the crisp blue paper. The cards look as though they could be plucked from the page!

As promised, I have some better photos to show you from the Illegal Wedding Fair. These are focused on the tablescape that Sierra and Juliet of Poppies & Posies developed on an oyster theme. It was beautifully done! I was so happy to walk in that morning and see the table.
We’d talked by phone before the event and they described their vision, so I went on that to create an illustrated table sign (“Fire Island” but of course), a tall oyster bar menu, individual dinner menus and place cards. Take a look and see the perfectly handcrafted oyster card holders, set in a small nest of green seaweed with fresh water pearls, which Sierra and Juliet made for the event. They are a super talented team — be sure to check out their site for more about their floral and event design services: www.poppiesandposiesevents.com.
These pics are from the awesome Kelly Prizel of the wedding blog, So You’re EnGAYged, who I had the pleasure of meeting and chatting with. The site is excellent and I’m looking forward to getting Paperfinger on their list of LGBT-Friendly Vendors. She also posted a thoughtful piece about the fair — check it out here. Thanks Kelly for the great shots, including some of the Paperfinger table!

I had another opportunity to work with Karen Mordechai of Sunday Suppers on a shoot for Martha Stewart Living that appears as a feature story in this month’s issue!
Karen is the photographer, creator and food stylist of a delectable blog and dinner series (see an earlier post about our first collaboration) and for this special evening, I used a rustic, European, casual style of lettering for the menu pictured above and a framed sign for the party favors. The editorial team of Martha Stewart Living also asked me to contribute spot lettering for the guest list, pictured below.
It was thrilling to get my hands on a glossy copy of the June issue and see it for myself.
Congrats to Karen on her always-wonderful work and to Liz of Linda & Harriet for the spot-on design of the paper goods.

Yesterday’s Illegal Wedding Fair was an elegant, celebratory affair at the incredible townhouse, 632 on Hudson. Thanks to all who came! I was really happy to be a part of a beautiful and inspiring event and to show my support for marriage equality. I’m eager to see professional photos but for now, here are a few shots of the Paperfinger table and the collaboration I did with the talented ladies of Poppies & Posies who a put together a gorgeous tablescape. Hope to have more pics to share soon!

Any good paper lover knows the blog, Oh So Beautiful Paper. I’ve been a loyal reader for a while, so it was a great honor to work with Nole, the founder and editor of the site, to produce a brand new logo design. The new logo and site launched yesterday!
Nole also featured her freshly pressed business cards (printed by the legendary Studio on Fire).
I’m thrilled to see the logo live on the site and to see it in use.

I am really excited to be a participating vendor in the first-ever Illegal Wedding Fair — a wedding fair for same-sex couples! It will be here in New York City on June 6th at the elegant venue, 632 on Hudson.
There will be talks from industry experts like Annie Lee from Daughters of Design. Other vendors include my fave baker, Nine Cakes; great music talent from Elan Artists; floral design by Poppies and Posies; Park Slope stationery shop Lion In The Sun; and many others!

I’m very honored/excited/bashful to share a link to the recent interview with Paperfinger on M.I.S.S., the powerhouse blog and source for fresh content relating to all things women.
M.I.S.S. covers lifestyle topics like art, fashion, beauty, and music along with commentary, trend spotting and other observations. It’s a great mix. Their ongoing column, “Women Making History“, features interviews with women in a range of fields, both contemporary and historic. Gotta say that it makes a woman like me happy when calligraphy gets a loving shout-out in an unexpected context!

Needless to say, I wasn’t the only one enjoying myself at Tuesday and Wednesday night’s Urban Wed event, hosted by Brooklyn Bride. As a new offering, I created custom props and signs for party-goers to use at the always-a-riot StudioBooth photo station.
I raved about StudioBooth in a previous post, but in case you don’t know, it’s a mobile photo studio that brings life and humor to any event, party or wedding. Something happens when you step into the bright (and blessedly flattering lights) — everyone ends up jumping, leaping and posing in total delight. As the party goes on, the photos are projected in random order on the wall, providing for endless entertainment.
Having a great set of props adds to the fun so I was excited to forge a new collaboration with StudioBooth and create signs like “We’re getting hitched!”, “Congratulations”, “She said Yes!” along with calligraphic mustaches and eyewear. This is a brand new offering from Paperfinger and can be custom ordered for any event. Contact StudioBooth for bookings and contact me for the props and signage.
Here are some shots from the event:
